Singapore is one of the
safest and least expensive countries when it comes to taxi services.
Over 15,000 air-conditioned cabs provide comfortable, hassle-free
travel at a very reasonable cost. Taxis in Singapore are regulated by
the Land Transport Authority and must not be more than 7 years old.
Consequently, you find mostly new taxis in Singapore. They can be
flagged down 24 hours a day on most roads, with well-marked
taxi-stands available outside most major shopping centres and hotels.
At Changi Airport, the
taxi stand is located just outside the Arrival Hall on Level 1 in
Terminal 1, and located at the end of the Arrival Hall on Level 1 in
Terminal 2 (South Wing). Taxi fare from Changi International
Airport to RELC is about SGD$20 each way. There is a surcharge of
SGD$3 for taxis originating from the airport. It is not necessary to
tip the taxi drivers in Singapore.
