Happiness Workshop I
A talk by our Asst.
Secretary, Brandon Goh.
“We go about our daily
lives, social rounds, various enjoyments and amusements — to what end?
Modern humanity is more comfortable, pleasured and stimulated than ever, but
most importantly, more miserable than ever. So many people are on
psychiatric medication, while others are reliant on stimulants and drugs. In
the midst of this chaotic pursuit of sorrowful pleasure, the Ageless Wisdom
can help us recover lost art of happiness and equanimity, if only we allow
it. ”

Forum on Daily Challenges -
‘Worries’
This is one of a series
of forums on the daily challenges faced by each of us, including worries,
fear and anxiety, anger and irritation, self-centredness and selfishness,
greed, pride and delusion, hurt and forgiveness, pain and sorrow, depression
and nervousness, and other day-to-day emotions faced by each of us.
Life is never short of
worries. What is the theosophical viewpoint regarding worries and how do we
apply our knowledge to combat this common affliction? Chong Sanne will be

Necessity for Reincarnation
Choong Chi Pin
continues with the second part of his talk on the article of the same title
by Annie Besant published as Adyar Pamphlet No.113 in 1920. She says:
“...Go down into one of
the worst slums of London. Children are born into those slums of vilest
parentage; looked at from the point of view of physical heredity, looked at
from the moral and intellectual status of father and mother. Now you can
tell one of the children of whom I am thinking, a child-criminal, when you
see it in the cradle; you know, as you look at that baby form, that that
child is doomed to a life of misery and crime. You can tell it by the shape
of the head, you can tell by the whole type of the features that that child
is a criminal child. And it is true. They are the despair of the educator,
as I know who have had to deal with them, as all know who are brought into
touch with them. They will not respond to moral appeal, but only to fear,
most brutalising of instructors...”
