Christianity From The Jewish Perspective

The Theology of Christianity is based on that of Judaism. Both share the same God and Christians say that Jesus is the Messiah predicted in the Old Testament. Yet many conservative Evangelical Christians today cannot understand why Jews don’t accept Jesus. According to the Evangelists all the predictions came true and Jesus did everything that was predicted--it is the Jew’s own Scriptures--can’t they read?

Hauw Tio Hiong, our Assistant Librarian, will share some of the arguments of the Jews. We will see in what way Christianity has borrowed from Judaism and how the original meaning of these concepts has been replaced by the early Christians and taken for granted by latter-day Christians. Finally, because of what happened to Jesus, we will also look at how the Jews have been treated by the Christians in the past.
