Prayer and Forgiveness of Sins Our Hon. Secretary, Lily Chong, gives this interesting and thought-provoking talk which examines the nature of prayer, the different types of prayers and methods for answering them, how we should pray, and prayers for the departed. It will then take a look at a closely related subject — the forgiveness of sins. This talk was last given 5 years ago. Read the synopsis in the 2013 January Newsletter.

Early Members of the Theosophical Society Our VP, Tang Kwok Choon, walks us through the early history of the TS.
One of the early members was William Stainton Moses (pen-name M.A. Oxon). We look at this rather controversial person and his time in the TS. He was even extensively commented upon in the Mahatma Letters to A. P. Sinnett.

Chinese New Year The Singapore Lodge will be closed for the Chinese New Year.
The Executive Committee wishes all our Chinese members and their families a very Happy and Prosperous New Year. 新年进步万事如意! May all other members share the joys of the festivities!
Incidentally, this day is also Adyar Day.

Avatâras Choong Chi Pin starts a new series of talks based on the four lectures delivered by Annie Besant at the 24th Anniversary Meeting of The Theosophical Society at Adyar Madras, December 1899. These lectures were later published as a booklet with the same title—Avatâras. The four lectures given by Annie Besant were: What is an Avatâra? The Source of and Need for Avatâras Some Special Avatâras Shri Krishna.
